In September 2019, the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME) and the French Agency for Development (AFD) launched a call for projects aimed at developing « Innovative solutions for off-grid access to sustainable energy » (SolInAE) in Africa. This initiative follows a previous call for projects on the same topic launched in 2017 by ADEME and the French Ministry for the Ecological Transition, which was a great success. This second call allowed 10 project leaders (companies or NGOs) to implement their innovative solutions, thanks to a financial and technical assistance. The selected projects, all located in Sub-Saharan Africa and benefitting from strong local roots, implement the solutions that mostly suit the identified needs, with the aim of scaling them up. They implement both technological and organizational innovations, and endeavor to train beneficiaries in order to sustainably foster the development of target countries. This brochure presents the 10 selected projects and their innovations.
