The ecological transition scenarios highlight the vital and complex role of biomass. Depending on how it is used, it can help to replace a proportion of fossil fuels and store carbon in ecosystems and products. However, it is at the heart of a host of environmental, economic and social issues, which require us to find compromises and balances. Moreover, the acceleration of climate change is having a direct impact on ecosystems, increasing the complexity of building and implementing strategies.
In this opinion, ADEME describes the role that this resource can play in meeting the country's ecological transition objectives.
