Over the last few decades, digital technology has developed and had a major impact on the way we live, on companies' business models and on the way the State operates. It has long been perceived as intrinsically virtuous from an environmental point of view (‘dematerialisation', ‘virtual'...). Is this still the case? While some digital applications have a positive impact on the environment, the environmental impact of the digital sector is already significant and growing fast.
