Building a biodiversity approach

And meeting the biodiversity requirements of the “Article 29” of the French Climate-Energy Law (LEC)

Présentation

Analyses of article 29 LEC reports on biodiversity have shed light on the need to support actors in building their biodiversity approach and in its operational implementation. After presenting an overview of the different frameworks in which biodiversity-related issues fit today (Kunming-Montreal agreement, SNB, CSRD, SBT for Nature, etc.), the guide presents the four pillars of a robust biodiversity approach in the order proposed by the implementing decree: develop a strategy that is in line with international objectives, implement it through the applied use of available levers for biodiversity (commitment, exclusion, financing), identify the impacts and dependencies of its portfolio companies acknowledging without being limited by the imperfections of methods and data, and taking into account the management of biodiversity-related risks. Appendices provide additional resources for understanding the subject.
