Study of the prices of products bearing the European ecolabel

Price analysis of INC and UFC Que Choisir tests between 2020 and 2024

Présentation

Created in 1992 by the European Commission, the European Ecolabel is the only official public ecological label usable in all European Union member states. The objective of the European Ecolabel is to help consumers identify products that are more respectful of the environment and their health. The study analyzed the prices of European Ecolabel products compared to those of other products on the market in 28 tests conducted between 2020 and 2024 by the French National Institute for Consumer Affairs (INC) and the Federal Union of Consumers—Que Choisir (UFC Que Choisir). 413 products were tested, 96 of which bore the European Ecolabel. The study therefore highlights that European Ecolabel products offer a more environmentally and health-friendly alternative at prices comparable to other products in the panel. They thus remain financially accessible to consumers.
