Depending on the level of pollution in used oils, it is possible to distinguish what is commonly referred to as black used oils and clear used oils. Recycling clear oils is simpler than recycling black oils.
The study focuses on the clear oils sector to identify its barriers and levers through an assessment and analysis of improvement prospects.
It appears that three main scenarios are emerging for the future of the sector: letting the sector develop without constraints, supporting its structuring, or providing massive support to it. Each scenario presents distinct implications and levers for action and requires initiating consultations with all stakeholders in the sector to decide on the directions to take. The decision on the scenario to adopt must take into account the delicate balance between the expected benefits and the investments required, while aiming to maximize the efficiency of the sector and address current environmental challenges.
