Climate observations confirm that the territory of France has been affected by climate change for several decades now, notably by an increase in the average annual temperature. Climate models indicate that these trends will continue. To be as well prepared as possible, stakeholders will have to analyse the impacts of climate change on their activities.

This document is intended for local authorities who want to assess the impact of climate change on their territories. It describes and analyses the experience acquired by five local authorities around the world. This study looks at the overall organisation of the assessments, the resources deployed, and the way in which past and future climate exposure and sensitivity are analysed, as well as at the ranking of vulnerability and risks within the authority's territory.

This presentation with an operational focus on the work carried out in the five local authorities, and a summary of the main lessons and insights, will help other local authorities determine the approaches that are best for their jurisdictions.
